Kahurangi is a 1939 art deco timber framed house with stucco cladding in Mt Eden-Auckland which has been extensively renovated with insulation in the ceilings, under floors and in most walls. A family home to four, it is built on two levels and is north facing and uses a gas fireplace for space heating.

The data above is provided so that you can see for yourself how well the Westmere ebode house performs thermally compared to a renovated and insulated 1939 art deco home in Mt Eden. In both homes the live temperature readings are taken in spaces away from any space heating and out of the direct sun. The Westmere house, designed to be a net zero energy passive solar home, should maintain a comfortable indoor temperature of between 18 and 26 degrees
